Then the bus ride, yellow footprints, the scene of men and women with round shaped hats yelling to the top of their lungs. Boot camp, advanced training and the a post where each will serve and then be transferred to better or worse duty stations… of course all within the minds of the Privates and Generals willing to do what ever it takes to keep America safe.
Many have never come home, many come back homeless. Others survived yet limbless. Multitudes survived without a scratch. Many had their hears broke because Jody got their girlfriend. Others found love on a short liberty down the streets of foreign countries. Moreover, men and women alike had wives, husbands, children and families waiting back home and then upon return greeted with hugs, kisses and warm welcomes. Some returned home only to be mocked, cussed, spat on. Many transitioned to civilian jobs making political, industrial and community differences. Dishearten and dismayed, many had no where to go. Many can’t reach in their pockets because they are without the ability to do so. Many only have last thoughts within their own mind. However most are still willing to serve their Country and Community with fearless commitment, sacrificial dedication with a powerful presentation noted by all in observance.
Service is an honor. Service is a fulfilling exercise in the heart, minds and soul of many Veterans across this land… we call the United States of America. This land is my land, this land is your land. This land is our land and we salute those who are committed to serve.
